Can a 96 900Turbo run 205/55-16 tires?

I am helping a friend buy tires. She has a 96 900 Turbo, which comes with
205/50-16 tires. I would like to recommend the 55 series tires to her
because they are a more popular size and can be had much cheaper.
The 55 series will be approximately 24.9 inches in Diameter compared with
24.1 inches for 50 series. I understand that this will throw off the
speedometer by approximately 3.4%. But I am more concerned about any
interference problems.
I am wondering if anyone has experience running this size tire and have you
run into any problems.
