The exhaust is held on by many studs. They must all share the load. The exhaust gasket should be in good shape and the nuts should be evenly torqued. The manifold should also be flat.

> 3. who to extract the broken stud from the head? You could do it, or take it to any shop with a real mechanic. It is a fairly normal procedure for a mechanic. Basically, you put some sort of penetrating oil on it for a day or two. Then you drill a small hole in the center and insert a special toll called an easy-out in the hole. The tool has teeth that dig into the stud and twist it out.
The trick is to drill the hole straight and in the center. You may have to remove the head to get access.
