Tach (?) Cable
Posted by John Chacona (more from John Chacona) on Thu, 15 Jul 1999 10:12:20
Fellow Snaabs --

I wrote a coupla weeks back about a cable I found behind the dash of my 86
900. The insertion end of the cable is on the left side (as you face it
from behind) of the speedo assembly, but itis NOT the speedo cable. It is
a speedo-type cable: black jacket, about 10 -12 ins. long, w/a square wire
inside. The end that attaches to the speedo assembly is smooth and square;
the other end is almost threaded.

I suspect that this has something to do with the tach since my tach has
been disabled for some months now. Because of the length of this cable, I
figure it attaches to the firewall or somewhere else behind the dash. Can
anybody tell me where?

BTW, thanks to all of you who dimed me on finding shorts. Luckily, the
short revealed itself to me: the brakelights were permanently on. Now,
here's an amatuer Puzzlah: Why? Mail your answers privately to me since
this is moderately interesting, but waayyyy off-topic.
