Display says 'check latches'
Posted by Rogier van Bakel (more from Rogier van Bakel) on Tue, 7 Aug 2001 19:03:54
On my '97 900 SE Turbo convertible, the Saab information display keeps insisting I 'check latches.' This refers to the bent, threaded latches that hold down the top. I had to loosen them a bit, with pliers, a few months ago because they'd gotten too tight to close without using extraordinary strength, and they've worked fine ever since -- except for the SID message and the annoying chime that comes with it. I could live with these things if it wasn't for the fact that the chime sounds, and the message pops up, every single time I pull up after coming to a stop (when the top is up). No fun in stop-and-go traffic!
How do I get rid of the message for good (short of using a hammer on the SID? :-)
Thanks,
Rogier van Bakel
