Problems with aftermarket ECU
Posted by Pergatory (more from Pergatory) on Wed, 29 Aug 2001 09:40:22
I have a '92 Saab 9000 Turbo (hatchback). Runs fine, doesn't have any
problems.
I just got a red series EPROM replacement for my ECU from Swedish
Dynamics.
It's supposed to handle boost better, and bring it up around 20 PSI. I
installed it with no problems, but when I started my car, it idled at
400
RPM (surprisingly, it seemed to have no trouble whatsoever staying alive
at
400 RPM) and the gas pedal did not function (nothing happened when I
pushed
it down).
There couldn't be any appreciable pressure difference at idle as a
result of
this upgrade, so I don't think it's a problem with the engine. If I put
my
old EPROM back in, everything works fine again, so I know I didn't break

anything. The only thought I have is that maybe it thinks it detects
knocking, so it's cutting WAY lean? Does anyone have any ideas?

Alex
