Hall Effect Sensor 91 9000 CD

The hall effect sensor has gone south in my 91 9000CD because of the belt
braking and taking out the sensor. Do I have to use the same year or can
any year be used from a 9000 with DIC? How about one from a 900?
Don't want to spend the $150 from a dealer for a new one.
