I am looking at a 1974 Sonett III. It is in very good original
condition, but not pristine. It has 145,000 miles on it, considerable rust
beneath the trunk (the current owner has lined the trunk with aluminum, and
this is in Tucson so rusting should not continue) and the freewheeling does
not work (not sure if it's been 'neutered' on purpose). The headliner sags
a bit over the passenger seat, but the interior is otherwise in very good
shape as is the body. Mechanically it appears to be very sound. It runs
and drives very well.
From the research I've done online looking at asking prices for various
Sonetts, this one seems to be somewhere in the middle of the price
range. I'm thinking it's worth somewhere around $2500-3000. I would like
to hear some opinions, however, on what it might be worth. The owner does
not know what he wants to ask for it.
