Issue 1: Check out your suspension bushings. I don't know Saab suspensions
very well, but this sounds like what happens when front control arm bushings
wear out in other cars I've owned.

Issue 2: I'm not much help on this one, but I'd try draining the gearbox and
refilling with a good synthetic oil, say from Redline or Amsoil. I've also
heard good things about Lucas additives (http://www.gimmelucas.com/).
