Subject: '89 9000S, Jetronic 2.4 LH ecu help
=================
I'mÊresurrecting an '89 9000S, Auto trans., ACC, 5 dr., US (not Cal.) that
sat for 3+ years. While cranking it 'wants to run' & thatÕs all it does.

Tests & checks: EZK works & puts out good spark, fuel pump, fuel injectors,
fuses, relays & wiring circuits w/ all ecu's unpluggedÊare checking out 100%.

Naturally, I just had to remove LH box (Bosch P/N: 0 280 000 565), cover &
peek in.

It smelled of electrolyte coming from a cherry colored capacitor; had a
telltale dry white/ beige flake crust spots onÊslightly bulging top surface -
it got pretty warm.

There are two CapacitorsÊat C500 & C504 locations (when looking at the
circuit board with plug pointing down).

The latter is the leaky one aboutÊan inchÊbelow from R/H edge of EPROM, &
marked:

220140

+ AOE -

W8 EK

The +/- leads are on bottom, approx. dim: .4375' round x .750' tall.

Does '220140' imply 220 mf, 14.0v or something else?

Appreciate any help very much in knowing a capacitance value & voltage (as
IÕm willing to experiment & try a repair before springing for a refurb.), or
of an inexpensive good used LH box.

Many thanks in advance,

Sig
