Subject: no starter turn over after t-shooting no charge
=================
88 Saab 900t
A quick history
After charging battery car started. After running the car and stopping,
theĘbattery is too low to turn over engine. No battery light when IĘturn the
key. I began to troubleshoot the charging system.

I disconnected the ground wire,Ęspade connection, and the large
+Ęconnection. I found a cut in the ground wire insulation so IĘran another
ground to the alternator from the top of the head. Reconnected everything
still no battery light and now no start.

I checked the dash light by changing it out with one from my 1990 Saab
900tc. No battery light and no start.

I removed the alternator and the ground wire and made a new one from 8g wire
and copper ends, cleaned up the block and all other contact points with
sandpaper and reassembled. Then I cleaned up both the battery terminals and
cables. Same condition. No battery indicator light, no start. All the dash
lights come on brightly. When I turn the key the brake light idiot light
comes on for a moment then turns off. I hear a click but nothing more. I have
tried charging the battery overnight with a trickle charger as well as jump
starting the car. The same click and no turn over. I am stumped.

I guess I will start troubleshooting the starting system and not the
charging system. Any advice would be most welcome.
