As a frequent visitor to the US I am aware that oil changes are far more
frequent than most maufacturers suggest, even to the extent of spawning
companies such as Jiffy lube , a quick drive in - change oil -drive out every
3000 miles. The point I am trying to arrive at is that we tend not to change
oil more frequently than 6000 miles at the very most here and our Saabs and
all other cars seem to do huge mileages too.( my `92 9000t has 182,000miles
and going strong, I change the oil between the dealer 12,000 mile service
points, yes I still get my Saab garage to do it!) I accept that maybe there
are climatic factors in the US to take into consideration ,and maybe the
oil on the whole isn`t quite up to the spec of the oils available here,
mineral oils are still the most widely used. Just my 10 cents worth
