Hello:
Here are a few suggestions.
Repair manual - The Haynes manual for the 9000 is a pretty good book. I've
found it covered pretty well the diagnosis and R&R of mechanical problems
(i.e. brakes, shocks, steering, clutch, bodyparts, etc.) There is one chapter
devoted to rebuilding engine - never did it so I don't know how good it is.
Does a pretty good job of fuel system troubleshooting R&R as well. One thing
that I have found it lacking is a good set of wiring diagrams for the car. I
would supplement this with the saab shop manual that covers the electrics.
The saab shop manuals are the most detailed, but much more expensive.

Climate control system: You checked the immediately obvious stuff so, you
might want to try 'recalibrating' the ACC system. You need to hold the Auto
and the <> switch in at the same time - the procedure is described in your
owners manual. If this doesnt help, the most likely culprit is the blower
motor resistor, or the motor itself.
I don't recall where the resistor is located, but the blower motor is located
in the false bulkhead area - getting it out is not to bad...while you are
there, might as well change the heater core if it hasn't been done...(now
thats a job).
Good luck
John
BTW, check the saab club TSN archives for possible culprits to your blower
motor problem...
