Subject: Re: More power at the 2.2 tid

The diesels are much less amenable to power upgrades through software than
the gasoline engines are. In most cases, flame speed is the limiting
factor, which limits the rpm capability of the engine. Newer diesels, such
as the 2005 150 hp 1.9 Saab diesel, are getting higher rpm operation (and
more low rpm torque) by increasing the injection pressure, which allows
finer atomization of the fuel and hence faster flame speed.
