November 6 tech session update
Posted by Larry West (more from Larry West) on Tue, 26 Oct 1999 11:25:06
Well, it's a virtual tie right now. 13 to 17 in favor of the LH jetronic.
After speaking with John Moss, however, we are going to push ahead with a DUAL session for the V4 transmission teardown and the Bosch LH jetronic.
The details are yet to be finalized, I can't say whether they will be parallel sessions or one following the other. John is working out the logistics of that as we speak.
Lunch will be on hand, courtesy of Saab Cars USA.
If is comes down to two sessions back to back, we'll have to push the start time up a bit. Say, an 8:00 gathering, with a 9:00 start? That should put us on schedule for a 1:00 wrap up of session 1, and starting session 2 at 2:00 or so.
Once we figure out which will go first, I'll let you know.

How times have changed. If my dad had offered me a convertible anything I would have gotten a haircut and given up my oil stained motorcycle jacket.
I've got a white '90 saab convertible and a black lab retriever. The car's definitely a magnet. If I had this combo in college I'd have never gotten my engineering degree. I'd have transferred to arts, partied and dated all the time judging from the number of woman who routinely stop to admire the car and dog. Then again, not even a car and dog can make up for my cosmetic flaws.
My teen son drives a Saab hatch manual and loves it. Its a gutsy car and fortunately he didn't inherit my looks. More importantly is whether you are suited to the car rather then vice versa. If you're not prepared to maintain it scrupulously on schedule and learn something about its innards then maybe something less exotic is in order. With the exception of some Italian exotics I've owned, the Saab has its own unique personality and idiosyncrasies. Can't speak for the new models but I suspect not much has changed.
