98 900 common problems?

I've talked to a local dealer about two problems I have been experiencing.
Have others had these problems and heard similar responses?
The car is a '98 900 2 door.
1. Water leak in rear. I assumed the read windshield gasket.
2. Vent direction dial is broken. This is my third! This is the
