Here's a few things I can think of you might want to consider: If you get a '93, you get a nice, roomy glove compartment (no passenger side airbag). But on the other hand, they seem to be known for eating their manual transmissions. The Aero has a stiffer suspension and lower ride height than the regular CS/CSE. If you do a lot of driving in snow, you probably would not prefer the Aero. The Aero's rear seats are also more difficult to fold down because of the thicker cushions. An Aero with the 225hp engine (manual transmission only) requires 91 octane, while the 200hp engines require 87 (but you should really use at least 89). Any 9000 turbo engine, but especially the 2.3 liter, you can modify to get close to 300hp (but consider whether you want to be replacing the transmission every couple of years). Almost all modifications easily made are aimed at getting more out of the turbo, and most likely make high octane gas a requirement. I always enjoyed hearing Howard Stetson (Stetson Saab, Maine) brag 'give me a 2.3 liter turbo and I'll show you 270 horses' in his thick Maine accent. :-) Are you thinking of a manual or automatic? If automatic (does the 850 T5-R come in any other form?), keep in mind that the automatic Aeros do not get the modificaitons that bump hp to 225 because the automatics are too delicate (and actually, the engine computer limits torque to less than that of the standard 200hp 5sp for this reason).
Hope this helps, -Derek Shaffer '91 9000T 5sp, 119K
