I have managed to lift a short engine (no head, no manifolds) and a transmission separately. Getting them on combined on a truck (using two people) ... forget it. You cannot use more than two person and you cannot really afford to drop them. Get a hoist although a nice supplier should load them for you so you should only need the hoist at the delivery point :-)
