help buying a 9000 aero
Posted by James Law (more from James Law) on Mon, 13 Mar 2000 01:34:58
Hi, I hope someone can help me with a few nagging ?'s I had after looking at a very nice 94 9000 aero today.
1. Car didn't seem to boost as much as other aero's i've driven. The seller says he has always used 93 octane. The boost gauge goes almost to the red, but not quite. It certainly a fast ride, but I've driven some (same year) that seemed to have a bit more get up and go.
The car had the trionic ecm replaced many years ago. Any chance the 'aero ness' of the motor is gone due to that? If so, what would the 'aero' chip cost? 2. The shifter makes some squeaking noise only when shifting to reverse or 5th gear. It sounds like it's definitely inside the car. Seller said he had something replaced that fixed the fact the car was stuck in 3rd-4th gears. Sorry i forgot the name of the part. Is it possible this was installed improperly?
3. Seller has replaced heater core, head gasket, valve cover gasket, brakes, master cylinder. Anything else i should look for?
4. Power steering fluid was green. I don't remember my steering fluid ever being colored like anti freeze, but?
Thanks all in advance James 88 900 T SPG Hopefully an aero someday soon
