Hello again all,
We good news at last, I have actually been able to pick my car up. I got it
back on Saturday evening.
The transmission guy, was really good, with me. He answered all my
questions, and everything.
With regards to the bearing I was asking you guys about on Friday. He has
explained it to me more. It is not part of the outer casing of the gear box.
However it is a ?SAAB one and only bearing. Apparently the inside of the
bearing(where the shaft goes) is really quite small. But the outside is
really big(10'). Apparently you simply cannot get hold of them. However, he
says it looks really good.
The gear box is changing so smoothly you can't even feel it, even under
loads of power. It just floats down the road at mach 2.
One thing I can say about this transmission guy, He is honest, and does a
really good job.
When the box was first rebuilt. it carried a 6month 6000 mile warranty. When
the bearing failed it had done 8000 miles.
He repaired the box, and gave me a price, which was hard to hear. But after
giving me a price. He discovered the valve body in it was knackered. He went
out and bought a new one, and never charged me for it. I still only paid 600
pounds. and I can't imagine a valve body being cheap.
He never even charged me 1 pound labour, and some nights he had been up
until 12:05 am fixing it.
You have to give it to him.
Thats one hell of a bloke!!
