9-3 Hi-fi installation options

Hi,
I currently have a 1989 Saab 900 as a second car and I am so pleased with it
that I am thinking of changing my main car for a Saab 9-3. I have a couple
of reservations though: What is the fuel consumption like. Also, how
difficult is it to install a standard DIN CD/tuner into the existing car
radio space (which looks like a weird shape).
