I've got a 2004 9-3SS Aero approaching 12K miles that I truly love.
- sunroof improperly installed at factory - repaired at 30-day checkup
- driver window regulator failed - replaced under warranty
- passenger seat belt warning sensor always on - replaced under warranty

It's my 3rd SAAB and the best handling so far. I do have some door rattles that I need to address with the dealer, though I'll probably try to do it myself as no dealer cares about me having a quiet ride like I do, and I've already removed the driver door panel to have a go at it but need to go back in now that I have more information on where to add padding. If I can nail down most of the rattles this car will really be perfect.

The 2005's may not have rattle problems. Mine did not really become noticeable until about 10K miles, and lubricating the rubber door seals with silicone made a pretty big difference in squeaking (BMWs have the same problem I've read). Additionally the Aero has a firmer ride and I keep my tires inflated on the high end making the ride even firmer. The Linear ride will be a bit more compliant (while still having excellent handling) so you may not have any problems with rattles. I think the rattles are partially a result of the fact that the car's body is so incredibly stiff which is a good thing compared to the previous generation 9-3.

Cheers,

John
