Unfortunately, I did not need to remove the upper portion of the dash so I'm not sure how to get into that area unless it's accessible from underneath somehow. I guess you could try pulling the front speakers out, which might help. I haven't removed the front speakers yet, but I would imagine if you were to take a slim putty knife and were really, really careful, the grills probably just pop out. I know the rear deck grills you can pry them up with your fingers - they're in there so securely. After that, the speakers are probably just screwed (or clipped) in place. You could probably remove the SID after you pull the center speaker. It also looks like the plastic that makes up the front of the dash from the gauges to the radio is one piece. Again, not 100% sure, but I would think this is just clipped in place with about 10 to 12 self-destructing steel clips. In fact, most plastic trim on cars is just clipped in place. If you're lucky they used one screw for every five clips on anything non-structural.
As far as the pillars... When I needed to run a couple of cables from the front to the trunk I stuck with the door thresholds (again, just clipped in place). I stayed away from the A, B, and C pillars because of the side curtain airbag system. With yours being a convertible, do you even have side curtains? If not, I would guess the pillar covers just pry straight off. My old car without curtain airbags, I could just pull the covers off and see the wiring to the dome light, sunroof, etc. But if you've got some kind of airbag or simular system in them, I would stay away from fooling with the pillars, nothing worse then pre-inflating the air bags!
But if you get really stumped, it may be a good investment to order the master sheets from crutchfield for five bucks. They’re good for showing how to remove the radio and speakers from the car and in the process, sometimes show how to take apart the entire front of the dash step by step.
If you have any other questions just ask! Good luck!
