My wife and I were strongly considering purchasing her 9-3SC through the European Delivery Program last Fall, in part for the adventure and in part because the Euro Del'v price was lower than Employee Pricing! We eventually bought off the lot with Employee Pricing this Spring because it was simpler, and the cost advantantage for the Euro Plan disappeared when we started adding all the options we wanted. Euro price on the base car is much less than Employee Price, options are slightly higher. Add enough options and the difference equalizes.
Saab will send you a brochure detailing all/most features of the plan by simply clicking a link on the SaabUSA site. This booklet is very informative and I may still have mine lying around here somewhere. It even includes all the European holidays , by Country, so you won't accidentally schedule pick-up or drop-off on a holiday.
I checked with all three Detroit Area Dealers and found that only one (Glassman in Southfield) has experience with this program. The "Queen Mother" of Glassman's sales force (I have forgotten her name) has extensive experience with the Euro Delivery Program and she uses each of these sales to train other salespeople. Kudos to her!
The program sounds like a great way to combine vacation and a new car. The two downsides are: 1) you must pay in full for your car 30 days before your scheduled pick-up in Europe, and 2) it might take 6 to 8 weeks for your new car to arrive at your local dealer after dropping it off at the docks in europe for shipment to US.
