Folks,
I had the same leak problem with both of the rear doors on my 2003 9-3 SS. My leak started after I had the door handle replaced by the dealer. After posting on Saabnet.com, I was told that there is a plastic "apron" behind the interior door panel. The poster said that if this apron is installed improperly that it will cause a leak into the rear floor. When I took it to the dealer, they told me that they ran water on the roof and rear doors for at least 90 minutes and could not detect a leak. Unfortunately, we had a dry summer, so it wasn't often that we'd get enough rain to reproduce the leak. I eventually ended up taking the car back to the dealer several times before the service manager had the body shop manager check it out. I was able to bring it in about that time when we had gotten rain the previous night, and I DID have wet carpeting on the rear floor. The body shop manager felt along the door gasket on the bottom of the door. Water wasn't really seeping out, but the gasket was wet and he felt that this confirmed where the water was coming in. I had told everyone at the dealership what I found on saabnet.com, and while they nodded, I'm not sure that they gave it any serious consideration at first. After the first re-install of the door apron, one of the two did start leaking again. I took it back and it was "fixed" and-- so far, ~6 months later-- it seems OK. This has been the single most frustrating service item I've had with my Saab. I suppose that it comes down to the skill of the individual tech working on your car. Don't let them BS you if they say that they cannot reproduce the leak, and watch it carefully after the initial repair. Good luck!
