Well the Lyc IO360 in my plane burns a qt every 4 hrs. Thats right in the design range. Too little means it's too tight over the temp range.
Aircaft engines get and annual leakdown test and long skirts on the pistons plus low rpm means they dont rattle around too much.
On the other hand I had a very high compression BMW M6 that went down to 1500 to a qt at was basically toast due to piston slap on the skinny light pistons. Leakdown was horrible,
If the car isn't leaking oil I'd keep a close eye on the trend. Thats nuc more important that absolute consumption.
If you are reall paranoid do trended oil analysis .. and/or get a major powerplant warranty.
