Visited with my Saab service mgr this evening. He kind of soft-pedaled the nitrogen argument, but thought chief value was in higher stability of nitrogen vs air (less affected by temp changes). Conceded that if you check pressure regularly the nitrogen argument is less of an issue. Tires presumably run cooler.
I don't think this is purely a marketing issue, as in my business (construction and mining equipment) there are strong arguments and advantages for nitrogen -- required in some cases. Nevertheless, case for use in passenger cars is less compelling.
Based on comments, we apparently have a superior dealer here in Central Illinois. Dealer principal is a local guy who became very successful in car business after very rough beginning. Straight shooter. Competent PDI's seem to ward off problems others report, and service is prompt, honest, and fairly priced.
I may or may not try nitrogen, but likely won't bother. Too much hassle finding nitrogen if you do have a pressure change.
Thanks for comments. Would be interested if anyone has tried.
