Not touchy, just confused...

It's a lot like when people who buy giant eight-cylinder SUVs and complain about the obvious poor gas mileage. You state the interior finishes are disappointing. When did you notice this?
I agree that Saabs aren't in the same league as BMW and Audi but then again, the price and sales numbers reflects this. I seriously doubt you paid BMW or Audi money for your Saab and if you did, you simply didn't do enough research; Saabs sell at steep discounts (oddly enough, even Consumer Reports states this in their latest review). You likely paid Honda or Toyota prices for your Saab. Sure, it's not as reliable as either of those two but it is a step up, status-wise. Not BMW status, not Audi status, but if you want that you have to pay up.
I'm just confused when people complain about things that are readily apparent in a simple test drive. Is the quality of the interior materials worse now than when you bought the car? Wasn't the lack of quality painfully obvious when you looked at other brands, _especially_ Audi? You had to have thought the car was a better value at the time of purchase. I assume you had the same opportunity as all of us to buy an Audi; why did you chose the Saab?
I'm not blindly pro-Saab. I enjoy my 9-3 and will certainly look at the new ones when I'm ready to buy. But I'll also be looking at the competition closely as well. Like everyone, I'll have to decide if saving a few thousand dollars is worth getting a car that, by nearly every measure, is inferior. If the Saab were only $2-3k less, then I'd likely buy something else, but if it's $6-8K less like it has been for a couple of years now, I'll be more inclined to get the Saab, cheap interior or not.
