You can find the wiring diagram...and if you find it please send me a copy!
My '08 is leased, otherwise I might do the same. I'm really disappointed by the NAV unit. I've used many GPS's over the years, from aviation ones to automotive ones and this one is fairly user unfriendly.
In order to remove it, you must first remove the top vent, which is a very difficult process. It may fall apart (guess how I know). There are only then a couple of torx screws that hold the entire NAV unit in place.
