Unusual observations with Purolator oil filters..... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Fri, 23 Jan 2009 03:43:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I was in the local Advance Auto recently, the only source for Purolator oil filters in my area, and since I will be doing an intermediate oil change on my wife's 9-3SC soon I grabbed an oil filter for her 2.0T engine. The Purolator Premium (L15436) was priced at around $5.50 whereas the Purolator Pure One was nearly $9.00
Opening the boxes revealed the surprise. The lower priced filter included an O-ring for the filter cover, but the higher priced filter did not! The store had Pure One filters in both the old and new packagaing (different color boxes) but it made no difference.
The Pure One appeared to possibly have slightly more media, but for more money the buyer did not receive the O-ring. Strange.
