I'm one for procrastination but eventually you may compound the problem. You might have just a catalytic converter problem which if not taken care of could damage your oxygen sensors. Not a big damage to your car but you're adding up eventual costs to other instruments. No, it won't kill your car and you won't have to replace it until the next inspection. However, the car probably isn't running as efficient as it could. Some check engine lights will stop the turbo from kicking in for "limp home" mode. What I'm basically saying is if you have the money to fix it now it may be less expensive with less parts to replace than additional costs in the future.
