ESP OFF light illuminated
Cars affected
Saab 9-3 M06-08 equipped with ESP (Electronic
Stability Program) (not applicable to 4WD) within the
following chassis number range:
61000001 - 81125654
66000001 - 86007479
Background
Diagnostic trouble code C0131 08 can be generated
without a failure. This results in the unnecessary
replacement of the ESP unit. The problem can be
solved by downloading new software.
In the case of customer complaint the following procedure
must be carried out.
Symptom description
ESP OFF light illuminated

Procedure
1 Connect the external power supply to the car.
2 Connect Tech2 with software version 1.000 to
the car and start Tech2.
3 Select "ESP reprogramming" from the menu
and press Enter.
4 Read the information and press Enter.
5 If Tech2 can automatically identify the current
software, it will display an information screen. If
the information is correct, press OK.
6 If Tech2 can not identify the software, it displays
a screen where you can manually select the
software. Select the correct software and press
OK.
7 Follow the instructions on the Tech2 screen.
8 Tech2 indicates when programming is finished.
Warranty/Time Information
In the case of customer complaint and if the car is
within the warranty period, use the following information
to fill out the claim:
Failed Object: 52160
Fault/Reason code: 67
Location code: 09 (US=9)
Warranty Type (US): 01
Repair/Action code: 05
Labour Operation (US): 5216004
Labour Operation (CA): H2105
Time: 1.7 hr
Note
Ensure the memory card to Tech2 does NOT have
the write protection activated.
