I have a 2006 9-3 Aero SportCombi. Gorgeous design, extraordinary engine, unmistakeable uniqueness, and great value are the biggest advantages of this car. I bought mine CPO from a dealer in May 2008 with every option (navigation, touring package, everything) for $6,000 below Blue Book.
BUT... be prepared for serious interior squeaks, creaks, rattles. Worse than your mother's Daihatsu. Seriously, it rattles like a tin can. The interior fit and finish is VERY sub-par for this vehicle class. You'd think you were in a one-off cheapo prototype car or something... but no, they're all like this.
Overall, reliability for me has been pretty good for a European car. The coolant expansion tank recall was just performed (yesterday, in fact) and I feel better about that issue now.
See if the interior issues bother you. Drive one around with all the windows closed and the stereo off. Listen. Can you hack it? Some people don't care -- but I do.
