I assume you're asking about a Saab convertible vs. a Saab sedan? Saab convertibles are among the best convertibles out there for winter driving. Sure, BMW and Mercedes have their hardtop convertibles, but rear wheel drive is crippling in snow (no all wheel drive yet in convertibles, at least I don't think so, chassis can't support AWD/XWD).
I drove an '08 Aero convertible, wind noise really wasn't that bad, I was expecting a noisier ride. Great car in my opinion. Front wheel drive with some nice snow tires will conquer just about any snow conditions (I live in Iowa so I've seen my share).
I drive an '09 9-3 sedan, I love it. But if it's the convertible she wants, don't let winters scare her away, because there's really no downside (except maybe a little colder in the cabin when you get in after it's been sitting....maybe).
I've only heard great things about the convertibles, and my best friend drives an '05 Aero convertible, drives it year round in snowy Chicago without any problems. It's fun to leave the expensive German rear wheel drive cars behind at intersections in the winter...although I can do that year round (thanks to BSR!).
Plus the anniversary blue is a fantastic color!
Just my two cents.
