I have an 06 9/3 ARC Vert. Live in SE pennsylvania. wonderful car in winter, don't notice any difference in comfort from a hard top. heated seats and cold package really makes the difference. at times w/ top up may get a little more road noise/drone but very rare. the fun begins at 50 degrees and a suny day. drop the top and all your cares go away, a permanent smile maker. the HVAC system takes care of any type of weather rather well. a wind screen makes it even more comfy, though limits back seat to storage, no passengers. If I had to make the choice again I would definetly go Convertible. a wonderful handling car, good looks and so much more fun in spring summer and fall. making through te four months that really aren't vert weather is tough but makes that rare december or early january winter thaw day really great to drop the top.
Top down driving comfort on an interstate that is crowded or loud with lots of trucks can be a drag but any top down exp can be that way in those conditions. The premium sound stereo makes do with the top down I find the MP3 player in the aux jack or the cd player make a world of difference over the radio at highway speeds.
Hands down, go with the vert!
