If it's quiet, key the ignition on, put your head down by the door card, and activate the switch.
If the switch and motor are working correctly you will hear the motor click on, and then click off after about a second regardless of whether you let go of the switch.
If you can hear the motor click there is probably something keeping the glass from moving, the regulator bound up or something.
We had a car in this week that the regulator was getting sticky, and pulling the door panel and rapping on the motor freed it up, but ended up having to replace the regulator.
Best,
Drew
