This issue has been discussed at lenght over years on this board - you might wnat to do a search to read aout the comparisons. The 2003 and 2004 convertibles are fundamentally very different cars, and I would agree with AeroDave's comments. In 2004, the body style, suspension, interior were all redesigned - the main improvements in my mind was the structural stiffness and overall appearance (personal opinion). I have been very happy with my 2004 considering it was the first year of the new model. See my comments re suspension and handling in another thread. Overall I have had minor glitches (pinch protection, OnStar, peeling buttons, etc.) but no major problems.
I personally wouldn't buy one earlier than 2004 (unless it was a Viggen) because I think the post 2004 improvements were so significant, but that's a personal opinion and you'll probably find many owners of the pre 2004 models disagreeing with me. I've never really understood the comments about the 2003 and earlier interiors being so much better than the post 2004 models. Mine is stark with the all black dashboard, but I like it.
