Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Posted by Nicholas [Email] (#2995) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Nicholas) on Mon, 11 Oct 2010 16:36:45 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My '03 93 Vector recently had work done it by the dealer due to flood damage. When I picked up the car the check engine light was on and the shop manager said it was due to a faulty Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) sensor. He did not think the sensor fault was due to the flood damage, so my insurance adjuster did not authorize its repair.
I asked the shop manager if the EGT sensor was another name for an O2 sensor, and he informed me it was not. He further explained the 2003 models were the only models with the EGT sensor, and it is in addition to the O2 sensors. Apparently this sensor (according to the manager) is sealed, similar to a coolant temperature sensor, so that is why he didn't believe its fault was due to the flood damage.
Has anyone heard of an EGT Sensor for the 93? I have tried finding the part on the web, but I haven't had any luck. I have a Haynes manual but it only associates the EGT for the diesel engine, not the gas engine (the manual covers saabs sold in the UK). I haven't had a chance to look for the sensor on the car itself, so is it obvious to find?
My check engine light is illuminated and codes 0138 (O2 Oxygen Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank1, Sensor2)) and 0456 (Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit High (Bank 1)) are present.
