I never buy new. I originally became a SAAB owner due what I saw as great value for the money. While my first Saab was a 1999 9-3 bought off of lease in 2002 for $11k with 52k miles, I was recently forced to replace it after an accident.
I bought a 2003 9-3 Arc for $4800 with 128k miles in excellent condition about 6 months ago...although $$ is now being spent on suspension components, I consider it a steal considering my comparisons of competitive makes/models.
While great for used buyers, I can understand your concern as a new owner looking at future devaluations. I am not sure the Honda devalue comparison in mid-level miles, but Saabs do seem to drop fast in price compared to others above 100k miles. That is interesting since we all know that Saabs can last very long with proper maintenance.
