Most European cars seem to wear the rear pads more these days. Certainly VW, Audi and BMW in my experience. Another factor that I think contributes is that since these car universally have 4-channel ABS, they run more rearward brake bias than in days past since there is NO chance of a rear wheel lockup causing a loss of control.
My '08 SC with 34K on it has more than 50% of the pad left on both sides of the rears. Admittedly mostly highway miles and a manual transmission, but it shows that the Akebono pads do the trick. Brake dusting is non-existant.
