Nothing is "odd" anymore with modern cars since they all incorporates computers of more or less stellar design.
It's funny because we really don't think twice anymore when our home PC do something "odd". We just reboot and if the problem is gone, we don't think twice about it again and just chalk it up to a hiccup of sort.
People just need to get into the same mindset with their cars since they keep buying cars fully loaded with computers.
All depending on which circuits inside the ABS module goes bad, I assume you can get different codes and maybe it defaults to something and shut off the signals so that you can't see the results on the Tech 2.
Heck, I was surprised years ago when I found out that the 9-3 changed the bulb order when the outer brake light burned out and it started to use the inner tail light bulb instead.
I get calls from people saying the brake light message is on and they swear up and down the bible that "all" brake lights are working.
Here is what a modern Volvo can look like as far as electronic modules (mini computers) goes. Each and everyone have a potential of an "odd" problem showing up.
