The car has been rock solid since new. My only work has been oil changes, filter changes, and taking it in for tire rotations every 6 months. It will receive its first rear brake pad replacement this week (40K miles) but the front pads are still good.
In comparison to my high mileage 9-5, which I consider the best car I have ever owned, the 9-3 requires nearly no service.
Only caveat. These cars came from the factory with Pirelli P6 tires which are horrible on wet or snowy surfaces. If the used models you are looking at still have factory rubber you will want to change it out - regardless of tread depth remaining.
