Hows the vehicle running? Pull spark plugs and inspect for evidence of blown HG? Any over pressurization of the coolant system (coolant overflow)?
Reason I ask, the 9440 9-3 models have an oil cooler which circulates the engine coolant along with the engine oil in separate chambers. (Heat exchange unit) Sometimes the cooler fails and will lead to the condition you describe. Not very common to fail but have seen two personally, both 2003 liners ironically enough.
