Yes with 115k, it would seem the leak would have come about earlier. The ultraviolet dye in the cooling system turning up in the oil three days later gave 100% proof there was no external leak and it was passing though in the engine. On the B207, the cylinders are sleeved so doubt the leaking area is within the cylinder. There was also no abnormal cooling system pressure to indicate a blown headgasket.
Interesting perspective from the dealer techs on GM vs Saab. I agree that dumping this "magic" $5 tablet into the cooling system seems like a short cut. When given the customer the choice of possibly fixing or delaying the engine R&R vs a $$$$ used engine assembly replacement, which could also develop the same condition later on... Its pretty easy to see.
She and I both agreed if the tabs did not fix, or if the coolant loss returns in the same manor its going to get replaced. Will post an update if further issues arise on this vehicle.
