I am a little worried about something that just happened this morning, I went to start my 2003 Linear (190,000 miles) this morning and it cranked for one second and was about to start and then it immediately died. Now when you go to crank all you hear is a "whirring" from the starter (I made sure the air pump relay was removed to eliminate that noise).
So now the car does not turn over at all just the starter motor whirring around. Does anybody think it is possible the starter gear is not engaging the flywheel? Or am I looking at something more serious like the timing chain? I've never done the timing chain on this, but I am hoping to just go buy another starter. Any advice will be MUCH appreciated! Thanks!
