Aero wheels and brake caliper clearance

I recently went to put on my winter tires onto my 2006 9-3 Aero Sport Combi and was going to have them mounted to a set of 16 inch rims from my old 2002 9-3 SE. My indy was really thinking ahead and put the wheels (with old tires on them still) before putting the snows on. He was concerned about the spacing between the rim and the brake caliper. He said that the caliper was a floating caliper and could possibly strike the rim while I was braking and turning, therefore doing a lot of costly damage.
I had to send my 16 inch snows back and order 17 inch instead. Anyone have recommendations for 17 inch aftermarket rims that would fit and not be a problem for the caliper?
Thanks.
