It's an offset issue. the 06 should have an 41mm offset and the '02's have a 46mm offset. I had test fit the 16s from my 2001 (46mm offset) on my 09 SC Aero (It has the AC code front rotors) and ran into the same problem. Sourced a set of 10 spoke 16s with the 41mm offset and they clear just fine (same as the 17's).
