I was originally planning on upgrading from my '01 9-3se to a newer 4 cyl, but I made the mistake of driving a turbo X before any other newer 9-3's. The 4cyl just didn't have the power I was hoping for. My '01 even felt better.
So, I went with an '08 aero sc, manual. Was hard to find, but have been very happy with it for the past 2+ years.
I have had to replace the ignition coils, and oddly had a broken door handle.
Besides that, the car has been trouble free. A little thirsty, as my commute is a lot of stop and go, but it actually gets decent mileage when cruising on open roads. The 50 - 60 mph is the sweet spot for fuel economy, otherwise, the car is a rocket.
The added features for the aero are nice to have too. Radio is great, and better seats.
My only wish was that I held out for an '09 that would have had bluetooth, as Vermont is now a hands off phone state.
So, go drive the aero before ruling it out.
