Thermostat is locked in place by two pipes that has to be loosened and pulled out of thermostat housing. Since there is just about no room under the turbo you are working with a mirror and flashlight and lots of flexible sockets and extensions, preferably 1/4" size.
The big pipe is held in place by a secret screw that I have not been able to find a short cut too but the front motor/transmission mount has to be removed, which is a task in itself even when working on a hoist.
Since the WIS workshop manual is now available everywhere you should get that and load it on an XP machine then you have all the info the dealer had back in the days.
