Have had good luck with Pirelli P7 Cinturatos with both of my 9-3s. Quiet, decent grip, etc. Can’t really speak to rain performance because I live in the desert and wet weather is rare. Around $120/corner.
Replaced the Pirellis on my ‘10 9-3SS this past Friday with General Altimax RT43s from Discount Tire (America’s Tire in CA) for price reasons. They were $103/corner plus installation but came with $50 rebate and a Discount Tire rebate — after rebates about $436/four tires installed. (FWIW, DIscount Tire Direct has regular sales around major holidays so perhaps wait until Memorial Day and see what pops up.)
Since you’re just occasionally driving, you could go way cheaper. TireRack shows Riken Raptors for less than $78/corner if the load rating for the convertible is 93 (I buy 97 for my 9-3s). WalMart has their Douglas store brand (load factor 93, I think) for $55 each.
Have used Nokian enTyres from WalMart once as they were $65/corner. Made in Russia per the sidewall. Great tire for the price! They are around $96/each at the moment but they were $66 a few weeks back but I forgot to buy them and the price went up. Must be a function of how much stock they carry at any given time.
Also mounted Yokohama Avid Ascend GTs last year on one of my S60. Nice tire. About $140/corner. My other S60 has Pirellis P Zeros on it. Very nice.
Costco has flash sales. Their prices are decent but getting a rotation takes around two hours because they’re always busy.
I avoid cheap brands like Nankang, Westlake, etc. because much of what I drive is 70-80mph for 520 miles across the desert to Tucson from LA and I don’t trust their QC.
In any event, there are lots of choices out there, etc.
