None of these answers are right.
If you need an ECM, then any Trionic 8 ECM for a 4 cylinder FWD NG 93 will work.
An ECM from a 6 cylinder car will not work.
You don't need a Tech2 to program it to your car.
All you need is a laptop with a USB to OBD2 connector and free software called Trionic CANflasher.
You would read the contents of your existing ECM onto the laptop using Trionic CANflasher, and then write those same contents to your replacement ECM, thereby cloning it. From the car's perspective, it's the same ECM.
ALTERNATIVELY, you can use a Tech2 with security access to program the replacement ECM to your car, but most people have a laptop but no Tech2.
OR, if you're nervous about using a laptop or a Tech2, you can send your ECM to Hirschmann Koxha and they'll fix it for $400.
